So lately I have been obsessing on the songs Scott Walker, Sufjan Stevens, Andrew Bird, and Brother Danielson.Last month I was on Rhett Miller, Spoon, and Huey Lewis pop kick.I sometimes think my listen habits are like my eating habits.Sometimes I crave the things my body needs, like apple when I need fiber or tomatoes when I need vitamin C. I am not sure what my current music diet indicates, but my soul feels better for it.It has helped me to focus on the new recording.
Btw, the recording is officially “in-progress” with drums track already laid for three songs and three more to come hopefully next week.I plan to focus on finishing it in late October early November.More on that to come….
Also on September 25th, I am playing at the Fox and Goose in Sacramento with Ross Hammond. If you haven’t heard Ross, you should.
I met Ari Gold the other day at Wanderlust. He was playing with his band The Honey Brothers. Nice guy! Check the trailer to his new movie. It makes me want to practice my rockstar moves.
With exception of get what felt like the Swine Flu, this spring has been shaping up to be pretty exciting. I had an excellent time filling in for Kate Gaffney at the Torch Club acoustic songwriter series. The experience forced me to finish a bunch on new songs that should be making their way into the band's repertoire.
Had a really fun show at the Fox and Goose April 17th. Get Right Church. We shared the bill with Get Right Church who sounded amazing as usual. Note to Andy and Ruebi, keep Sam on the drums. He's great.
In the process of booking shows for the summer (I do procrastinate.) Hope to get up north to a bit via Chico, Mendo, Humboldt, Eugene, and Portland. We'll see, fingers crossed. If anyone feels like helping out with setting up a show in their town, shoot me an email me at

February and March have been a productive months for me.Writing has been the focus. However, I had a fun show with Hans Eberbach and The Nibblers on February 28. Hopefully you'll see more of that lineup in the near future.
I am playing at the Torch Club every Tuesday in March (except St. Patrick’s Day.) It is an acoustic songwriters deal from 5:30-7:30 PM.I have been trying out new songs there.Come on by and have a listen, 904 15th St. in Sacramento.
Here is a blurry iPhone photo from the last show:
For you Julie Meyers fans (and aren't we all,) I’ll be playing bass for her up at Club Retro, Friday, March 20th.
Also, for you Naked Nathan with Champagne fans. If you see him, bug him about booking for more shows. I had drinks with Phil the other day, he needs to play. We both need a show before we forget how to play Nate's songs.
Finally, on April 17th, the Rich Driver Band will be at the Fox & Goose for show with our goods friends Get Right Church.
